Originally, when we created FeVote, we modeled it after Digg, a social news website. Digg is widely known for its front page, where recently popular news stories appear.
FeVote’s current front page is more of a tribute, and demonstrative novelty, than it is useful for a social suggestions website. It looks like a normal suggestion board, but the suggestions are compiled from all the suggestion boards on FeVote. It’s been great for users to be able to see on the homepage — first-hand — what FeVote is all about. Though frankly, we needed the room to make it easy for users to create and find existing suggestion boards. Keeping the full-size suggestions on the homepage would just add complexity.
‘But I like being able to see official responses, and the top and most recent suggestions on the front page!’
Well, so do we! So we decided to simply list these stats & facts in little boxes off to the left side, so you can now see updated information about FeVote, at a glance — no clicks. And guess what… we added five brand new stats!
- Popular suggestion boards
- New suggestion boards
- Top suggestions right now
- Recent suggestions
